Balancing act

In the event of an apocalypse ...

I was thinking today about a potential zombie apocalypse (not that I really believe that there will be one, but on slow days, it gets a mite boring around here, and ... well, just in case).

I was wondering how defensible the office building would be; I think I'd be pretty much screwed, on account that one entire side of the building is open, what with the loading docks. There are, I think, three separate staircases and a freight elevator going to the second floor, where the newsroom is.

Also, there is the problem that reporters, in general, just don't have very good survival skills. We're not particularly fit or deadly. Besides, we have no weapons. What are we going to do? Stab them with a letter opener? Bash them over the head with a paperweight?

Hopefully, accounting (also on the second floor) is more deadly. Since they're all working for Alex as ninja assassins on the side, maybe they will take pity and save us. Or maybe they'll decided that it is survival of the fittest.

There is the third floor. I've never been up there, but I think there's only one staircase; it makes it a little more defensible. Maybe I should get Alex to check it out with me and see if it would make a good bunker in the case of a zombie apocalypse. He is on the safety committee, after all.
